Parts & Performance Review

I will state again, SIMPSON Pressure Washers and equipment overall earns its high reputation from the high-quality parts and construction. Here we are going to highlight the top components responsible for SIMPSON Pressure Washers performance and reliability.

CRX Engines

One of the standout features of Simpson pressure washers is the inclusion of the CRX engine, which significantly enhances their efficiency and reliability. The CRX engine is known for its powerful output to provide the robust performance needed to tackle even the most challenging cleaning tasks. Whether you’re cleaning driveways, patios, vehicles, or heavy machinery, the CRX engine delivers consistent, high-pressure water flow that ensures thorough and effective cleaning every time.

What sets the CRX engine apart is its advanced engineering and user-friendly design. It offers easy-start ignition, reduced vibration, and lower decibel output so the cleaning process is more comfortable and less strenuous.

This engine is built with precision and high-quality materials to ensure longevity and dependability, and is designed for fuel-efficiency. All of this works together to reduce costs to users long-term, and provides consumers an environmentally-friendly gas pressure washer option.

Overall, the CRX engine makes Simpson pressure washers an outstanding investment for anyone seeking top-tier performance and durability in their cleaning equipment.

The engine comes with a 5-year warranty.

AAA Pump

These pressure washers use AAA pumps which are some of the best on the market. Each pump has an adjustable unloader that responds to changes in water flow, and a thermal relief valve to prevent overheating.

These features allow users to have more control over the water flow and protect the pressure washer for better longevity.

The pump comes with a 5-year warranty.

Powder-coated Steel Frame

SIMPSON Pressure Washers are commercial-grade all the way down to the steel frame. Not only are these steel frames durable enough to withstand any setting, but they are also powder coated to be corrosion-resistant.

Accessories

These units come with a full range of nozzles, an ergonomic spray gun, and a high-pressure hose polyurethane hose that is non-marring and is three times more abrasion-resistant than rubber hoses.

SIMPSON Pressure Washers Value

One thing that surprises me about SIMPSON Pressure Washers is that they are absurdly fairly priced for the quality, performance, and warranty coverage.

The SIMPSON Pressure Washer models we reviewed today price on par, some even below, the DEWALT Pressure Washer equivalent. Also, once you factor in the longevity features it is clear that SIMPSON Pressure Washers are a worthwhile investment to professionals and homeowners.

Final Review of SIMPSON Pressure Washers

SIMPSON has been an industry-leader in pressure washer and cleaning equipment for over 50 years thanks to their high-quality and high-performing products. That is why they are able to offer long warranties on multiple parts.

How DEWALT Guarantees Pressure Washer Performance

There are three main components to every pressure washer that make or break its performance: the engine, pump, and accessories. Each of these components was prioritized when designing these DEWALT Pressure Washers.

Let’s take a closer look at each of these components.

DEWALT Engines

All three DEWALT Pressure Washers were made with a heavy-duty professional engine, even the more residential 3600 PSI model. This ensures the pressure washers have the power to meet the demands of the job, but the construction and durability is why DEWALT is able to provide a 3-year engine warranty.

On top of warranty protection, the engines are designed with built-in protection: the low oil shutdown feature prevents against user error, AKA someone “forgetting” to refill the oil.

One last great engine feature I appreciate is the easy start. Gas OPE is associated with exhausting and frustrating pull-to-start ignition. Not these! No fighting, just starting and getting to work.

Pump

The engine gives you power, now you need to move the water. This is where the pump comes in and these DEWALT Pressure Washers have a fully-integrated AAA industrial triplex plunger pump that gives users control over the desired pressure flow.

If you’re unfamiliar, these pumps are extremely heavy-duty and professional-grade pumps. They are tested and rated at over 500 hours and are some of the most efficient pumps on the market. Again, DEWALT provides a 5-year pump warranty for these quality pumps.

Accessories

Accessories provide versatility and control for different pressure washing situations.

Each of these DEWALT Pressure Washers comes with four to five different nozzle attachments. These give users even more control over the desired flow rate. Not an accessory, but a “feature”, the 3600 PSI model also has PowerBoost technology to give you more power on demand.

These hoses are non-marring and high-pressure, which is more abrasion-resistant than a rubber hose.

The spray gun and hoses are also thoughtfully designed to be more ergonomic. Pressure washing is fun, but it can be tiring. The ergonomic design allows you to work longer without getting exhausted. Ergonomic features like this are something I appreciate more and more each year.

Final Review on DEWALT Pressure Washers

Overall, these DEWALT Pressure Washers performed great during our tests with them. They are also a great addition to The Home Depot pressure washer inventory. As the biggest hardware store in the world this helps make high-quality pressure washers more accessible to both professionals and everyday consumers and homeowners.

On top of the performance, the warranty coverage is grade-A. So consumers can get these products with the confidence they will meet their needs, but also the security of their investment if something fails.

So, if you’re looking for a quality pressure washer that is easy to use and will work for years to come, look no further. Any of these DEWALT Pressure Washers would be a great addition to your garage or part of your lineup.

Are you a homeowner or even a contractor looking for the perfect small pressure washer that is powerful but doesn’t take up a ton of room in your shop, garage, or truck?  If so check out our Greenworks Electric Pressure washer Review.  This little unit is surprisingly powerful and extremely easy to use.

Greenworks Electric Pressure Washer Overview

Having a pressure washer on hand is bittersweet, well at least for me.  I really only use a pressure washer a couple of times per year.  I use it to clean my patio furniture once a year, my house once a year, and my grills twice a year and that is it.  In the past, I have always had to deal with storing a pressure washer in my shed and taking up a ton of space.  Don’t even get me started on dealing with the gas when I do use it.  Since it’s not a weekly tool I use, the gas goes bad because I forget to treat the gas.

That is why when we had the opportunity to try out the Greenworks pressure washer, I have to admit I thought it would be a perfect fit for me.

Greenworks Electric Pressure Washer Features

Greenworks Electric Pressure Washer

The Greenworks pressure washer, model GPW1704 is PWMA certified and generates 1.2 GPM and 1700 PSI, which means it can tackle hard jobs around the house.

The pressure washer is electric and has a 35′ power cord that has an inline GFCI for protection.  The unit pulls 13 Amps.

To put you at ease, the pressure washer comes with a 3-year warranty.

Greenworks Electric Pressure Washer

The handle features a traditional D-Handle with a pull trigger.

Greenworks Electric Pressure Washer

The unit comes with a 20′ 1/4″ diameter hose.

Greenworks Electric Pressure Washer

Looking down on the unit you can access the tips and turn the pressure washer on and off.

Greenworks Electric Pressure Washer

The unit even comes with a soap applicator which does an awesome job at lathering up what needs to be cleaned.

Greenworks Electric Pressure Washer

The tip features a quick connect system to change tips.

Greenworks Electric Pressure Washer

On top of the unit is where you can store and access the different tips which are a 40-degree nozzle and a turbo tip.

Greenworks Electric Pressure Washer Performance

I have to admit, I wasn’t expecting much since it was electric and small.  However, the pressure washer did amaze me how powerful it was.  We cleaned the Cub Cadet, my truck, patio furniture and more.  So here is what I love about this pressure washer.

I love how small and compact the pressure washer is.  This means not only is it easy to carry it where I need it but when I am not using it, it’s not taking up a ton of room in my garage or shed.

I love how I don’t have to deal with gas.  Just plug it in and go.  No messing around.

I also love how easy it is to use.  The pressure washer is simple to set up, break down for storage, and easy to operate.  I really can’t ask for more.

If I did have to change one thing, I do wish I could store or organize the cord on the unit.  However, since the unit is already small, it’s not a big deal.  I ended up buying Velcro straps to wraps the cords and it works out perfectly.

Greenworks Electric Pressure Washer Value

You can pick up this pressure washer at Lowes for $119.  For me, that is a steal because it frees up room in my shed, no gas to mess with and it’s powerful enough for around the house. So I do think this is a great deal.

Greenworks Electric Pressure Washer Final Thoughts

Overall this is a great pressure washer.  The power is more than enough for any work around the house and even smaller job sites.  You can clean your vehicle, grills, patio furniture, walkways, windows, deck, and more with this pressure washer.  What I love about it the best, is the size.  So when I am not using it, it’s easy to store and doesn’t take up a ton of room.

What do you think of when you think pressure washer?  I think loud, heavy, powerful and a tool to make my life easier, well if I can get them to start.  The one thing I really don’t think of is an electric pressure washer.  The primary reason I don’t think of an electric pressure washer is because of power.  So can an electric pressure washer be powerful? Let’s take a look at the Greenworks Pro Pressure Washer and see what this is all about.

Greenworks Pro Pressure Washer – Information

If you are in the commercial business or using a pressure washer every day, a gas powered pressure washer can be the way to go. However, if you are using it occasionally like cleaning a car, cleaning a deck, fence or patio furniture, then you are not using it all the time and you probably don’t need a 3500 psi.

Another concern if you are not using a pressure washer all the time is gas.  Gas goes bad quickly and if you’re letting gas sit in the pressure washer, then chances are you will gum up the carb and not be able to start the pressure washer when you need it most.

These are just two reasons that you might want to go with electric pressure washers.  Now if you are like me and think that since you don’t have a gas engine, your pressure will be sacrificed, well let me show you the Greenworks 14 amp as the power will surprise you.

Greenworks Pro Pressure Washer – Features

Greenworks Pro Pressure Washer

The Greenworks (5107502) is a 2300 psi with a 2.3 GPM electric pressure washer.

Greenworks Pro Pressure Washer

The washer uses a brushless motor for durability and efficiency.

Greenworks Pro Pressure Washer

To start or turn off the pressure washer, just turn the dial, yes it’s that easy.  No pulling cords or dealing with spark plugs.

Greenworks Pro Pressure Washer

The pressure washer is equipped with two 10″ tires to make it easy to move from place to place.

Greenworks Pro Pressure Washer

One feature I really like is the brass connector.  I like having a strong connection because I have seen other manufacturers use plastic and it usually breaks.  The brass is a lot more durable.

Greenworks Pro Pressure Washer

The pressure washer trigger and handle are ABS plastic which is extremely durable.  The one thing I noticed is that when you depress the trigger, it’s easy.  I have used other pressure washers where you depress the trigger and you need a lot of force which means your fingers get tired quickly.  We used this for extended periods of time and didn’t get fatigued.

The unit comes with a variety of tips including a quick connect 15 degrees, 25 degrees, 40 degrees, and a soap nozzle.

Greenworks Pro Pressure Washer

On the back of the unit, it has a chemical tank which also allows for easy cleaning and emptying.

Greenworks Pro Pressure Washer

Both the hose and power cord have a place to store so it’s not dragging behind you.

Not only is the water line braided and strong but it stays flexible even in cold weather.  The water line is 25′ long.

Greenworks Pro Pressure Washer

The unit has a 35′ power cord so it allows you to get pretty far before you need to change outlets.

Greenworks Pro Pressure Washer – Impressions

Greenworks Pro Pressure Washer

We are in Chicago and as you would guess, the winters are brutal.  We get a ton of salt on the roads.  We used the pressure washer to not only remove this salt but brake dust that has been sitting on the tires for a while.  Besides the pressure washer being quiet compared to a gas pressure washer, we were surprised how powerful this tool is.  There was more than enough power to remove the salt, brake dust, and even caked-on dirt.

This wasn’t something where we had to leave the stream on an area for a while in order to remove the dirt.  It was powerful enough to quickly remove the dirt.

You can pick this pressure washer up at Lowe’s for about $280 which is a good deal.

Greenworks Pro Pressure Washer – Wrap Up

We don’t talk a whole lot about the advancements in electric motors as the tool world is currently focused on going cordless. The conversion from gas to electric isn’t quite as exciting for some, but electric is surely a lot more convenient than gas when you really get down to it. Nothing is more frustrating than when you decide you want to do a bit of pressure washing, just to realize you don’t have gas, or worse yet, don’t have the right kind. Ryobi is always eager to take away these small homeowner struggles though, and this model is a testament to that. Curious if this pressure washer is the one for you? Read on to get our take in the Ryobi Electric Pressure Washer Review.

Ryobi Electric Pressure Washer Review Overview

Ryobi seems to never quit. From their tool launches to homeowner solutions, they are constantly bringing new products to the market that seem to give a lot of homeowners a sigh of relief. A great example is their Airstrike Nailers (Finish, Brad, Pin Nailers). I have used each one religiously since I reviewed them earlier this year and they never disappoint! This year they have launched a full line of pressure washers that included gas, electric and even cordless models. Today we will focus on the electric model, but one thing is for sure, Ryobi has a pressure washer to suit your needs and budget.

When we think of OPE, Ryobi isn’t the first name to come to mind though, although its a trend they seem eager to change. Most people consider their cordless power tools and unique tools like their Devour vacuum. With this line of pressure washers though, you may just be thinking of Ryobi outside of the garage, instead of just in it.

Ryobi Electric Pressure Washer Review Features

Ryobi Electric Pressure Washer Review

This corded model features a 35-foot cord for versatility, and the plug features a GFCI plug for safety. Model #RY142300.

Ryobi Electric Pressure Washer Review

The 13 Amp, brushless motor puts out an impressive 2300 PSI, with a rate of 1.2 Gallons per minute.

The onboard accessory storage is a nice plus to keep nozzles in place with easy access. One thing I always appreciate about Ryobi is on-board instructional information. Not only do they have a quick guide for use, but they also have one for nozzle selection. They also include straps for the hose and cords, allowing for easy storage.

Ryobi Electric Pressure Washer Review

Three nozzles are included, a low pressure for use with soap, one for high pressure and a turbo nozzle which delivers 50% more cleaning power and is ideal for concrete.

The professional metal wand uses quick couplers to attach the nozzles for easy changing.

The included high- pressure wand hose is 25 feet long for extended reach without moving the unit.

Ryobi designed the unit itself well, with large wheels for portability and stability while using and maneuvers easily.

Ryobi Electric Pressure Washer Review Performance

First and foremost, I was blown away by the turbo nozzle. The other two worked well, and certainly have their value where the turbo would be too strong. The turbo nozzle just blew me away though in terms of what it could do in a short amount of time. In these photos, you’ll see a before and after of a small area of concrete that has a tendency to catch a lot of rainwater as well as seems to really like growing green mildew. This was cleaned up in a matter of minutes. I also used the high-pressure nozzle for cleaning small areas of siding.

The unit operates seamlessly. I never experienced a delay or hiccup during use. Setting up was also easy, with minimal assembly required out of the box. I always appreciate Ryobi including quick use guides on their machines, as its one of the most useful features for a homeowner who doesn’t use this machine daily. While I always say it is important to read a manual before using a tool, it’s nice to have a refresher for subsequent use. After connecting the water supply, hose, and power, using this is as easy as pressing the power button on the unit and pulling a trigger.

I have used several larger and supposedly more powerful pressure washers over the years that were gas, and I can not tell you how much more comfortable it is to use this model. The vibrations are very minimal, so it is comfortable to use and won’t leave you paying for the effort in days of arm discomfort. Not only would I pick this model for comfort alone, but for performance too. It easily outperforms the gas models I have tried.

Ryobi Electric Pressure Washer Review Value

This Ryobi model is priced well, falling right in the middle of their range of pressure washers but still being significantly lower than other models on the market. This model #RY142300 rings in at $259.00 at The Home Depot. To me, this model is geared towards a homeowner and is ideal for weekend jobs and heavy cleaning. I, personally have a long driveway and a large patio of concrete that can really make the home feel unkept if neglected. Especially with the amount of rain we get here, it can quickly leave concrete looking unattractive. This unit provides a great solution without the hassle of managing gas. Its price point makes it a great value for its performance and features.

Ryobi Electric Pressure Washer Review Final Thoughts

Pressure washers have a huge place in most homeowners arsenals. People use them to clean parts of their cars and trailers, but most notably their siding, brick, and concrete. A quick clean with a pressure washer can revive even the dirtiest concrete and keep your home looking fresh and clean from the outside. With Ryobi bringing more power to the forefront with the brushless motor and turbo nozzle, this model outperforms quite a few others on the market. If you are in the market for a pressure washer, definitely give this model from Ryobi a look.

One of my favorite things about spring is getting out the pressure washers.  We have seen all kinds both gas and electric.  Never have we seen a 40V cordless one.  I was a bit apprehensive when Yard Force sent us the YF4050PB Cordless Pressure Washer.  I had my doubts and thought it was a glorified garden hose.  After using it, I am sold.  We have done Yard Force products before like their YF2200BL Brushless Pressure Washer and their YF8000 leaf Shredder, they have turned out to be great items.

40V pressure Washer

The unit puts out 500 PSI at just under a gallon per minute which surprisingly is enough to do most cleaning tasks. The unit comes with a 19′ hose which is plenty for most situations and 3 nozzles: 0, 15 and 40 degrees.  It also has a separate chemical dispenser and nozzle. The 40V battery is enclosed in a waterproof enclose so you do not need to worry about it getting wet.  When you first get the unit you need to connect it to a garden hose to prime it.  After that you are good to go either with a garden hose or fill the included 7 gallon tank.  The tank is removable via 2 clips so you can take it to the water source and fill it without dragging the entire unit with you.

YF4050PB 500 psi

A full 7 gallon bucket full of water will last about 10 minutes before you need refill it if used continuously.  Total continuous battery run time is about 20 minutes. For easy storage the unit can be stored in the bucket to keep down on space.  Overall I really like this unit, it is a very convenient pressure washer.  Even in the winter if I need to wash something really quick I can just fill it with warm water and go.  It is perfect for RV owners, boaters, campers or just anyone who needs to clean out in the field.  The only thing I would like to have seen was cover for the bucket.  That way if you do not have water source you can take water with you.  The YF4050PB Cordless 40V pressure washer is available via Amazon and has a 2 year warranty.

There are a ton of pressure washers to pick from.  You can pick from gas, electric or battery operated machines.  Even psi is widely varied from machine to machine. However if you’re a homeowner looking for an all around quality machine that has some pretty cool bells and whistles, not to mention powerful, the Yard Force might be something right up your alley.

This is the first time I have had any experience with Yard Force.  In fact, I had not heard of them until we went to GIE this year.  This pressure washer caught our eye as it was very eye appealing, so we just had to get a closer look.  We had the chance to try one of these out for ourselves and have to say this is a very cool pressure washer.

Yard Force DialFirst, this pressure washer, model YF2200BL, is designed with a brushless motor and puts out 2200 psi while working off 13 amps.  One cool feature of this pressure washer is the pressure control adjustment.  Just turn the dial to your desired output and you’re ready to go to work.  You can adjust the pressure at 1,300, 1,600, 1,900 and 2,200 psi.  The unit is fully protected with it’s cage and also has a folding handle.  While most companies choose to include a junkie hose line, the Yard Force comes with a high quality 25′ hose.  The power cord is nice and long coming in at 35′ with a pigtail GFCI.

The wand is a stainless steel wand with a 1/4″ quick connect tip.  Just below the handle is where you can easily store and access different tips.  You get four tips with the unit 15°, 40°, Soap plus BONUS Turbo nozzle.  The unit has 12″ wheels which are a good size when trying to roll over your hose or cracks on the ground.  This information I took from the website, but according to them this pressure washer operates at an 89% efficiency compared to a 190cc at a 22% inefficiency.  Also the cost to operate is much less.  The YF2200BL is $0.19 per hour versus $2.03 per hour for the 190cc engine.

All in all I really like this pressure washer.  It’s powerful and easy to move around.  They didn’t cheap out on the hose or length of the power cord, which is a huge plus.  Now I am not familiar with this company, so I am not sure how well they are built and how they will last over time.  I like the fact that it comes with a 3 year warranty in case I do experience a problem.  The unit seems to be quality and I really wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this to a friend.

So what is a Dial-N-Wash?  Actually it is a very cool product by Simpson pressure washer.  With this small little gadget, you can turn any ordinary pressure washer into a variable pressure washer.  All you have to do is simply screw this onto the wand and now you’re set.  You can adjust the pressure of your pressure washer right from the wand.  Why is this so cool?  Well now you can do your patio with a low pressure and your driveway with a high power setting.  I have a Ryobi pressure washer which has been great to me.  One thing I can’t stand is the higher pressure when I am trying to clean the pavers on my patio.  I end up spraying out the sand and doing more harm than good.  With this little gadget, I can dial down the pressure and go to town.

A user can adjust the pressure from 1000 psi to a max of 4500 psi, if your pressure washer goes that high.  To use the Dial-N-Wash just turn the plastic ring either direction to get your correct setting, it is that easy.  If you want to be able to adjust the pressure of your unit, this is a great investment.

What We Like

  • Works with almost any pressure washer
  • Easy to put on

What We Don’t Like

  •  The unit is wider than the wand, so hopefully when it gets dropped it will hold up.

Specifications

  • Adjust pressure from 1000 PSI to Max PSI with a simple twist
  • Universal to fit most gas pressure washers up to 4500 PSI

We do a lot of pressure reviews here at Tools In Action but this is our first heated unit that we have reviewed.  For the homeowner this is crazy overkill so we took it out on the job with the Pros.  We tried to think of the harshest environment we could, turns out it is acid washing.  In the Chicago suburbs we have the Fox River, it is like a big sewer that people swim and tube in. Everything drains into the Fox River, when you put your hand in you cannot see it.  When boats stay in this water for extended periods they get an algae mossy type coating that adheres to the bottom of the boat.  This causes performance issues and in general is unsightly.  Being a boat owner I know how hard this stuff is to clean off.  Basically it’s oven cleaner or acid to clean the boat!  Yes, it is that caked on, that after you let the chemical sit on for a few minutes you need a high psi pressure washer to remove it.

For years the marina has used a 4000 PSI cold pressure washer and when I showed up with a 3000 PSI heated unit they were skeptical about the lower PSI being able to clean the boats.  Well it turns out with the addition of heat, the 3000 PSI unit cleans better and faster than the 4000 cold unit. Heat is amazing.  When you wash your hands with hot vs cold you can feel the difference.  Ever try washing dishes with cold water?  My point exactly! Another bonus is that the operator has a warm wand to hold on to during cold weather operations.  Simpson is a good brand.  We have tested quite a few Simpson units in harsh environments and they are still running strong today.  We put them in situations where they are used 8 hours a day everyday.  The Simpson King Brute KB3028 Heated Pressure Washer is powered by a Briggs and Stratton Intek 11 HP gasoline engine.  This engine started easily every time.  The only complaint, from TY the owner of the Marina, was that there is no off switch.  You basically just throttle it all the way down and then it shuts off.

The diesel burner has a big tank that will give you quite a few hours of run time.  The burner heats the water by 100 degrees.  So whatever the water intake temperature, add 100.  To turn the burner on you simply flip a switch, that’s it.  The motor turns a 12V automotive type alternator to keep the battery for the starter and heater charged.  The King Brute has a CAT pump, those who know pressure washers know CAT pumps.  They are a well known name for reliable industrial quality pumps.  The pump produces 3000 psi @ 3 gallons per minute.  The wand is long and has 5 Quick connect nozzles: 0,15,25,40 and soap.  Since this is a pro unit it comes with a 3/8-Inch, 50-Foot, 4500 PSI high pressure armor hose.  The hose was flexible and really easy to maneuver.

The entire unit is mounted to a 4 wheel cart that looks well built and has pneumatic tires to conquer most any terrain.  If you are on the market for a good quality heated pressure washer, take a look at the King Brute.  It is designed to provide a long service life.  For those of you that need an even tougher hose you can check out the Simpson Armor hose.

Simpson has been around for many years.  They make all kinds and sizes of pressure washers and pressure washer accessories.  Big names even use Simpson as an OEM and put their brand name on them.  We have been using Simpson pressure washers for about 3 years now and one thing that we can say about them is that they are reliable and get the job done.  All Simpson pressure washers start with a rugged welded tube steel frame design that provides years of service.  Rugged 10″ pneumatic tires will easily get you through any job site with ease.

The Simpson PowerShot PS3228 is an industrial duty unit.  It has a commercial Honda GX engine that provides reliable starts every time.  The GX200 motor has features that the PRO wants like low oil shut off, separate choke/fuel controls and a big steel 3.3 qt gas tank for long run times.  The engine is mated to a AAATM industrial triplex plunger pump with ceramic pistons and a thermal relief valve.  Triplex pumps are proven to last for years of trouble free service.  On the pump is a sight gauge so you can keep tabs on the oil level.  The unit puts out 3200 PSI with a flow rate of 2.8 gallons per minute.

In our tests, we gave the unit to A-list Handy Pros a local company that had the perfect deck and driveway job for the unit.  Right away Joe the owner liked the low stance of the unit compared to his old one.  It easily stows underneath the shelves in his van.  He also liked the fact that he was able to lift the 85 lb unit by himself in and out of the van.  When using the PowerShot he commented how quiet the unit was even at full throttle. This allows him to get started earlier in the day and not worry about disturbing anyone.  Although our test unit did not have quick connects the PowerShot does come with quick connects. This saves time when hooking up the hose and wand.  The hose is 25′ long.  Professionals like to use 50′ hoses and we would like to see that with future models.  The wand has a plastic handle and comes with 5 quick connect nozzles – o, 15, 25 40 and soap. The downstream injection system is easy to use.  Simply put the included hose in your chemical, attach the soap nozzle and you are ready to go.

buyamazon1For the professional, you can not go wrong with the Simpson PowerShot PS3228.  It has all the features a PRO would want.  Simpson also has a 50′ flexible non marring Morflex hose that is available separately.  Simpson is a name you can trust and this unit screams quality and it performed flawlessly.  The unit has a 1 year commercial warranty, 3 year engine warranty, 2 year pump warranty and 90 day accessory warranty.  Tools in Action recommends this unit.

A few weeks back we told you about the PowerPlay StreetFighter and how it was the baddest power washer on the block.  Well, we lied.  There is another unit from PowerPlay that will make you the coolest dude on the block.  The HotRod 3000 has the same wheels and general automotive styling as the StreetFighter, but this is where the similarities end.  The HodRod is a consumer unit and is designed to perform as well as it looks.  Let’s start with the made in the USA power plant.  A Briggs and Stratton 875 that starts first pull every time.  The engine could not be any easier to start, just flip the on switch and pull the cord.  That’s it, a first start every-time. You do not even have to prime it.  I cant tell you how I am impressed with the ease of starting and power on this motor.

The axial pump is made by Annovi Reverberi an Italian pump maker that is known for making quality pumps.  It is a simple and easy to use pump that requires virtually no maintenance.  It produces 3000 psi @ 2.7 gallons per minute which is more than enough for any task around the house.  The hose hook ups stick out on the back of the unit and are easy to reach.  The motor and pump are attached to a 16 gauge welded steel chassis that has a plastic 4L tank built into it.  There is a steel plate between the engine and the tank to prevent any heat issues.   The handle is easy to remove via 2 push pins for storage.  This pressure washer looks like nothing you have seen before.  The big wheels and sleek integrated tank really make it look like some sort of HotRod.  The wheels help it navigate any terrain you can throw at it.  The unit comes almost fully assembled you just have to put the handle on, add gas and oil then hook up the wand and hose.  The hose is 25′  long and was not stiff like some other hoses we have tested, it was easy to maneuver around.

It comes with four spray tips a 0 degree, 25 degree, 40 degree and a detergent tip for spraying your chemicals.  The unit worked great for the around the house chores that we put it to.  For cleaning patios and vehicles it is perfect.  Everything stows on the unit and it hardly had any movement thanks to its anti vibration system.  Made in Canada the Hotrod 3000 has a 2 year residential warranty.  Check out PowerPlay

There is no shortage of different styles of pressure washers on the market.  Basically you build a frame, then add a motor and pump.  Until today we have seen a bland mix of pressure washer designs with exceptions like the RYOBI 3000 PSI unit which has a unique frame.  PowerPlay is from Canada and they wanted to go one step further and build a functional, rugged frame that looked like a modern sports car.  Eye candy for guys, I guess you could call it.  The StreetFighter is a sleek, gorgeous looking machine.  I can’t believe I just said that about a pressure washer.  The looks are great, but bottom line is we need a machine that performs and lasts.  To accomplish this, PowerPlay added a commercial grade Honda GX 200 motor to power an Annovi Reverberi triplex plunger pump.  We don’t need to tell you that Honda GX engines are bullet proof. They are the gold standard in quality engines.  I do not have much experience with Annovi Reverberi pumps, but from what I have heard, they are a good, reliable pump. The pump has quality brass fittings and has an overall quality feel to it.  It puts out 3300 PSI at 2.7 GPM.

The frame is sleek and has a good, solid feel to it.  The engine is mounted low which gives you the ability to store the unit in a standard pick-up truck bed with a locking cover.  This is huge for me, as sometimes I don’t want to leave the unit on the job site.  The engine being low is almost completely surrounded by the frame.  This protects the motor and the pump from any damage.  The down side to this is that you need a funnel to add or change the oil on the unit.  Not a big deal, but something to note.  I use a funnel all the time anyway.  The wand breaks down easily and stores on the bottom clamps of the frame.  The 25′ hose has quick connects and is stored on the front of the unit via a velcro strap.  The top handle can be raised and lowered with the pull of a knob.  When the handle is up, the assembled wand rests nicely on the handle.  The Streetfighter is 28″ wide, which gives it great stability.  This unit won’t be tipping over ever!  The 12″ wheels look awesome and they also allow you to tackle off-road terrain with ease.

Operation of the unit is just as expected, first pull starts and minimal to no surging.  As with any pressure washer you always want to run the water through it before you start it.  It allows air to get out of the unit and protect the pump.  All pressure washers vibrate.  The StreetFighter is no different, however they have added an anti vibration system that helps keep the unit from vibrating to much.  This also helps the unit stay planted. We saw a little movement, but nothing more than any other pressure washer we have tested.  Overall, it did a good job of staying planted.  It comes with 5 spray heads, the usual: 1 degree, 15 degree, 25 degree, 40 degree and a wide fan, low pressure soap dispenser tip.  The unit holds 1.5L of soap in the onboard tank and all the spray tips fit snug on the frame.

So what do I think of the StreetFighter?  It is a great solid machine for just about anyone that wants a 3300 PSI pressure washer.  It may look too pretty to take on the job site but once it is there, the Honda GX engine and Annovi Reverberi pump will perform day in and day out for years of reliable service.  This unit is covered by a 2 year consumer warranty.  Check out PowerPlay Pressure Washers.

There are a lot of pressure washers on the market.  They come in all shapes and sizes and are designed for a variety of tasks.  DeWALT is no stranger to pressure washers.  Over the years we have reviewed quite a few of them, like the 4200 PSI unit here.  DeWALT starts with a solid base, a welded steel tube frame built to last and survive the tough industrial environment.  The frame also has an extra handle to allow for a single person to lift the unit. This is a really helpful feature.

Added to the frame is a Honda GX 200 motor.  I don’t have to go into details  about how Honda is the best small engine on the market, because it is widely known.  The features of the GX include a low oil shut off, fuel shut off, choke and throttle.  GX engines also have a large metal gas tank for extended run time and long tank life.  The GX truly is a first or second pull motor.  Mated to the engine is a Simpson AAA 3200 psi @ 2.8gpm Triplex pump with ceramic pistons.  The pumps have quality brass fittings and will endure a long life in the commercial environment.  The unit has 5 fittings that fit on the top of the unit.  It also has a detergent nozzle.

As far as reliability and ease of use, you can’t go wrong with this unit.  We did, however, notice that the unit would spin due to vibration.  It would roll the hose around itself when in operation on a smooth flat surface.  We have not seen anyone else complain about this so it could have been just our unit.  The 25′ hose that comes with the unit has a high quality feel to it, but I would like to have seen a 50′ hose here.  The big oversize wheels, combined with the handle system on this unit make it one of the most versatile commercial units I have seen.  It is a lot smaller in size than you’d expect and has a low profile for fitting neatly under things.  If you are in the market for a commercial pressure washer, take a look at the DeWALT DXPW3228.
