Husky is an exclusive Home Depot brand that offers several tool storage solutions, workbenches, and similar products for your garage and workshop.  Here we look at the 4 ft. solid wood top Husky Workbench.

Husky Workbench Overview

Some time ago, I thought that a workbench was kind of a boring, “blah”, basic workshop element that could be acquired with little thought.  After all, it does not actually cut, grind, sand, attach, or do much of anything else besides stand there.  I’ve learned a sub-par work surface can make for much frustration in the shop.  This Husky Workbench is a great work surface option.  Several features of this Husky Workbench excite me and I think you’ll share my enthusiasm.  Yes, we are going to be enthusiastic about a workbench.  Bear with me.

Husky Workbench Features

Husky Workbench

This Husky Workbench, Model # 20T002-1B, boasts a 1,000lb load capacity, and a powder-coated finish that should be able to withstand a fair amount of punishment. Husky offers a lifetime warranty.  Though I have not placed 1,000lb on the workbench and cannot speak to its performance over a “lifetime”, such promises do imply that Husky has confidence in this workbench.

Husky Workbench

The solid wood top sitting on an all-steel base makes this Husky Workbench a sturdy, practical-sized work surface for your shop. The workbench height is 37.25″ and is not adjustable.

Husky Workbench

The 20T002-1B Husky Workbench is 48 in. W x 20 in. D base.  We can all agree, stability is the most important thing with it comes to a work surface.  Lopsighted loads as well as bumps and jolts will make short work of poorly-constructed workbenches.

Husky Workbench

An all-steel frame provides stability and strength.

Husky Workbench

I feel with most projects, you need to be able to move around the workbench, shift weight, and so on. The workbench’s construction is secured and reinforced at key points, making for an overall sturdy base.  And the compact size offers a lot of flexibility to position it to give you maximum access to your project.

Husky Workbench

This is one of my favorite features: independent, adjustable-height rubber feet. We’ve all been in a basement or workshop where the floor is cracked, sloping, warped, and otherwise imperfect.  We try placing something like cardboard or scrap wood shims under the “short” leg, which is usually an imperfect, shaky solution.  These adjustable rubber feet effectively produce a level work surface even when the floor isn’t.

Husky Workbench Performance

A workbench should be judged on its stability and sturdiness.  The Husky Workbench rates pretty well on both metrics with its all-steel, reinforced construction, solid wood top, and leveling feet.

I also appreciate that the Husky Workbench is easy to set up.  Only two tools are required: a drill with a cross-head bit and a 5mm hex key.

Husky Workbench Value

I did a quick “workbench” search on the Home Depot site – this is the least expensive and can be purchased at Home Depot for around $130 dollars. Considering the lifetime warranty, adjustable-height legs, and overall reinforced construction, I think this Husky Workbench is a great, low-cost investment for those who need a stable, compact, high-load-capacity work surface.

Husky Workbench Wrap Up

This compact workbench checks all the boxes for me: easy setup, good quality construction, a warranty, and a no-hassle return policy. If you need more work surface in your shop at a reasonable price, this Husky Workbench is worth your consideration. I recommend you head over to Home Depot and take a look.

When you think of portable work support, your mind will likely go to either sawhorses or portable workbenches There are a lot of products available today that seem to fall short in their needs. Whether a professional needing to set up portable workstations or a homeowner looking for an option to support the occasional project you know how important stability, as well as portability, can be. If you’re like the rest of us and have been wondering how to overcome a few common issues in portable work support, we may have found the solution in a product from Bora Tools. Today we take a look at their Centipede System in the Centipede Work Support Review.

Centipede Work Support Review Overview

Traditional Sawhorses have been in production since the mid-1500s where the idea was published in the book, De re metaliica that featured the current processes for mining and refining. At the time, sawhorses were used to support beams being formed in a mill, which isn’t too far off to what we use them for today. Sawhorses are somewhat of a shop staple, providing a fair amount of versatility to their applications. The common issues found with sawhorses is that their base support is small, so often users experience sagging and unstable support. As well, they can take up quite a bit of space and can be heavy.

Portable Workbenches are a great alternative to sawhorses, and virtually every manufacturer makes them to some degree. They are commonly made out of plastic and have a surface with four legs for support. They definitely have a place in a collection, but their negatives fall into being cumbersome and their stability largely depends on the surface they are placed on. As well, the surface space on portable workbenches tends to be fairly small, which eliminates their use for most professionals.

While both of these have great benefits, there is still a hole in the market for the ultimate portable support solution. What is interesting about the Centipede Work Support is that you essentially combine all of the things you love in sawhorses and portable work benches and eliminate the negatives. Today we look at two of the models Bora Tools offers in their Centipede lineup, the K6S, and the K100.

Centipede Work Support Review Features

Centipede Work Support Review

The K6S and the K100 are basically the same tools, with a slight change in the accessories included.

Centipede Work Support Review

The K6S includes 6 X-Cups, 6 Non-Slips, 2 quick Clamps, 2 Hooks and a storage bag.

The K100 includes 4 x-cups, 2 quick Clamps, and a carry/storage bag.

Centipede Work Support Review

P-top holes provide easy attachment of Centipede accessories.

The X-cups allow perfect space for a 2X4 to rest in to provide additional cross support.

Non Slips provide a grip to the workspace when clamps aren’t used and slip right into the P-top hole of the Centipede tables.

Quick Clamps allow easy securing of a workpiece to the table using the included P-tops.

Hooks allow additional items to be easily stowed such as cords and the like easily.

Centipede Work Support Review

The storage bags are made of a nylon material with woven straps that allow for a durable storage solution.

Steel Struts provide the Centipede with its incredible strength and stability. The struts supply the impressive impact that provides starting weight support for these models at 1500 lbs. There are several sizes and weight supports available in the Centipede lineup.

Centipede Work Support Review

By allowing multiple contact points for both the workpiece and the ground, the result is a strong and secure workspace.

Centipede Work Support Review

The K6S and K100 both expand to 2 feet by 4 feet and collapse to 6 inches by 9 inches to allow for easy storage.

Centipede Work Support Review Performance

The Centipede tables are perhaps one of the most unique tools I have yet to have reviewed. With the included accessories and a few additional pieces of wood or a sheet of plywood, you can create virtually any size work surface. Not only is it an ingenious way to create workspace and support based on your specific needs, but you also have an incredible amount of weight that these units can support.

Another area that the Centipede tables stand out in, is their ability to provide more stable support over other options. Most portable work tables provide great support, as long as you are on a level surface. The design of the centipede puts weight amongst numerous cross formed struts. Because you have multiple contact points as well as additional areas that can withstand the stress of weight you have an ideal system for maximum support. With job site conditions being unpredictable, you have a distinct advantage in this table over sawhorses as well. While you will have some considerations, the Centipede can withstand terrain inconsistencies far better than other options.

What is probably the most remarkable feature overall though, has to be the small storage footprint when the units are collapsed. Their storage bag is only slightly bigger than the stadium chairs we all have likely owned at some point so it’s an excellent choice for tight spaces and easy storage.

Bora Tools also allowed for several sizes and weight ratings to give users ultimate customization. No matter what your needs are size and weight wise, there is a Centipede table that will suit your needs. The Centipede is easy to set up, easy to use and has no foreseeable negatives.

Centipede Work Support Review Value

The K100 retails at $70, however it is currently at The Home Depot for $49.00. The K6S comes in at $80.00 and can be found at specialty retailers. The primary difference between these two tables is the accessories included.

There are a ton of Portable Work Tables options available, with a fair majority priced higher than these. While you can find sawhorses for less, I would choose the centipede for its support ratings, increased stability and a smaller storage footprint.

For a Homeowner, the Centipede provides unparalleled value in terms of versatility and storage. For a professional, the Centipede is a perfect choice for job sites that require a range of support needs.

Centipede Work Support Review Final Thoughts

Centipede Work Supports fall in an incredibly unique category of a tool most everyone will have a use for. Very few systems can cross the needs of professionals and homeowners alike which the Centipede table does in spades. I found this system easy, efficient, stable and all around great value. For those seeking the ultimate in works support solutions, look no further than the Centipede from Bora Tools.

Husky seems to be a name that has consistently earned high praise for their durability and rugged construction. I have to say I agree, and the brand has yet to disappoint me overall. The Husky Portable Workbench had me intrigued. Not only was it meant to be a powerhouse when supporting weight, but it also had a router insert plate as well. I was definitely curious, so let’s see how it measures up and take a look at the Husky Portable Workbench Review.

Husky Portable Jobsite Workbench Review Overview

Husky Portable Workbench Review 02

The Husky Portable Jobsite Workbench, model 225047, was designed to be a portable and stable worksite table that could serve multiple purposes. The Husky Workbench weighs in at just under twenty pounds and is able to support an impressive 1500 pounds.

Husky Portable Workbench Review Features

Husky Portable Workbench Review 03

The table is compact and stores flat or upright easily making it less cumbersome than full-size workbenches. The handle was also a solid addition increasing the ease of portability. When folded the table is 34.6 inches wide and 4.4 inches thick, allowing for easy storage. When assembled the table is 38.2 inches wide, 25.4 inches deep and 31.9 inches high giving the table significant surface space.

Husky Portable Workbench Review 04

Set up was simple and the table has a self-contained storage design. Containing both a small storage box and the tables legs.

The legs are strong and sturdy, as they attach to the table top by a screw and latch. The legs are constructed of metal and plastic and contain rubber feet to improve stability. I was genuinely impressed with this design feature, as similar models use folding legs and often sacrifice strength and stability to do so.

Husky Portable Workbench Review 07

There are two metal rails within the workbench top that allow for bar clamps or the included screw clamps. The screw clamps could easily be used for creating a fence which is useful for the router capabilities.

Husky Portable Workbench Review 08

The option of using bar clamps within the tracks creates countless utilities, an example would be securing a workpiece or an alternate fence install.

Husky Portable Workbench Review 09

There are four metal brackets that hold 2X4s which could have several uses.

Husky Portable Workbench Review 10

One of which is simply increasing the size of the workspace, or another is allowing 2X4s to serve as wood support when using a miter saw.  You could also use these supports to secure a 2X4 while cutting it.

Within the small workbox, there were 4 dividers for customization of the box allowing it to serve its users purpose. It also contained alternate router table inserts, included screw-on clamps and brackets.

Husky Portable Workbench Review 18

The table itself packs a punch, but the feature that distinguishes it from other portable workbenches is the included router plate. The insert is removed by four simple screws and is made from plastic that has reinforced ribbing underneath.

Husky Portable Workbench Review 19

I own a DeWalt DW618PKB and attempted to attach it to the router plate. I did have to drill holes to make it work, which can be a bit difficult because the screws have to somewhat countersink in order to sit flush. There are numerous ways to correct this, and most router tables and insert plates seem to need some adjustments to be compatible across brands.

Husky Portable Workbench Review Performance

Husky Portable Workbench Review 20

This Husky workbench is strong, sturdy and versatile. I was pleased with its overall capabilities and some of the features such as the brackets and included tracks were genius. The only thing I felt fell short was the router insert plate, because of the adjustments I had to make. I definitely felt the feature once set up served the purpose and while it wouldn’t replace a fully functional router table, it is an amazing feature to be included.

Husky Portable Workbench Review Value

The Husky Portable Workbench retails for about $80 and can be found at Home Depot. For the price tag, this Husky surprised me in the best way. Not only is it reasonable for a portable workbench, the table also goes above and beyond to include features that increase its versatility. The compact nature makes this workbench an easy win for most anyone, from a homeowner to a professional.

Husky Portable Workbench Review Final Thoughts

Husky Portable Workbench Review 21

This table is an exceptional value with several features that really set this workbench apart from others. Even with the slight speedbump with the router plate, it is still a feature that was innovative and for the professional means not needing a separate routing table on worksites. Husky thought of every consumer in this design and homeowners will love the number of capabilities this workbench has especially with its small storage footprint.

There is a lot of equipment that is overlooked on a job site.  We tend to really only worry about our power tools, batteries, and the tools that get the job done.  However, there are a lot of times we overlook the tools that assist us with getting a job done such as a sawhorse, drill bits, and other power tool accessories.  Which brings me to today’s article, the Ridgid Sawhorse Review.

Ridgid Sawhorse Review Overview

If you shop around, you can find a wide variety of sawhorses available on the market.  Heck, you can even find plans to build your own.  The one thing I have learned over the years is that while there are a lot of products to choose from, there are very few worth the consideration, such as sawhorses.

For me, I have always loved the Dewalt sawhorses primarily because they are lightweight, you can place a 2×4 on them and they have a leg that extends for uneven surfaces.  Recently I was introduced to the Ridgid sawhorses and now I have found my new favorite sawhorse, so let me tell you what I like about these tools that assist us in our jobs.

Ridgid Sawhorse Review Features

Ridgid Sawhorse Review

The Ridgid sawhorse is designed from three materials.  Plastic, metal, and wood.  This is one feature I love about this sawhorse.  The plastic means it’s durable and lightweight, the metal adds stability and durability in key spots.  The wood allows you to make cuts and never have to worry about ruining your sawhorse.

Get this, if you use two of them together you can support up to 1.5 tons, yes this has a 3,000 lb. capacity which is amazing.

One very cool feature of this sawhorse is the wood top bar.  How many times have you had to make awkward cuts so you don’t cut through your sawhorse?  How many times have you cut through your sawhorse?  As you know once you cut through your sawhorse too many times, it’s pretty much useless after a certain point.

With the Ridgid, you can now replace the bar since it’s a wood 2×4.  While I wish you could replace the 2×4 without using any tools, I am happy you can replace it.  Now I never have to worry about my cuts and ruining either my horse or saw blade.

Ridgid Sawhorse Review

Like most sawhorses, the Ridgid has a bottom shelf.  The bottom shelf will support up to 50 lbs.

Not only does the shelf act as a shelf, but it also stabilizes the horses from rocking back and forth.

Another cool feature of this horse is the ability to raise the height or level it out on uneven grounds.  Now I know this isn’t unique to Ridgid, but I love how easy it is to adjust and I love how you can adjust each leg.  The best part of it all is the nice big numbers so you can match each leg.  No more guessing on the length.

The sawhorse has a height of 31″ to 39″ which means you can create your own workspace for cutting applications or as a workbench.

On the bottom of each leg, there is a little stub that sticks out and allows the user to use his foot to push the leg down.  This means no more bending over trying to adjust a leg.  The legs ratchet down so it’s easy to find and set up to your desired height.  Even the bottom of the feet has a no-skid foot to help keep it in place and not move around when using them.

Ridgid Sawhorse Review

To move the leg back up into the sawhorse, you press in on the orange lever and the legs will move back into the horse.

Ridgid Sawhorse Review

Two features of the legs that stand out to me are first they are made of metal which means they are durable and will hold up.  The second feature I love is how the leg slides into the other leg, which means it is protecting it and making it easier to slide up and down.

Ridgid Sawhorse Review

When you are done for the day, the horses fold up to a nice thin profile.

Ridgid Sawhorse Review Performance

In regards to the performance of the Ridgid sawhorses, these are extremely easy to use.  Setting them up is like most other sawhorses.  Just fold out and you’re set to go.  Adjusting the leg length is extremely easy.  My driveway has a slight pitch to it and I always had to set up horses in a certain direction.  With an easy to extend leg, I can now set it up where it’s convenient for me.

While I really wish changing the 2×4 didn’t require a tool, I love the fact that I never have to worry about cutting into my horse and ruining it.  I can now just change the wood and I am right back to work.

Closing the horses up and putting the legs back is also easy.  I know they are just sawhorses, but over time I have tried a ton and very few are as easy as the Ridgid.  I always feel like I am fighting with some, but not with the Ridgid.

Ridgid Sawhorse Review Value

The horse runs for about $50 and that is for a single horse at The Home Depot.  The price is more than some of the other horses on the market, but I think it’s a good value.  Sure you have to spend a $100 to get both, but the quality, ease of use, features and the load capacity justifies the price.

Ridgid Sawhorse Review Final Thoughts

Overall I love this sawhorse.  While the sawhorse is plastic, it has a quality aspect to it and is backed up in critical areas with metal for added support.  I love having a replaceable 2×4 so I never have to worry about my cuts or ruining the sawhorse.  Sure, there are other sawhorses on the market that you can use wood tops, but this is attached to the horse which means I never have to worry about bringing them with, falling out or misplacing them.  As of today, these are the best horses we have reviewed and worth the cost.

We have done some work bench reviews in the past such as the Keter Portable Workbench.  To our surprise, the portable workbench was great.  In fact I am still using it without an issues.  Well now they have another one out, well Husky does.  Keter makes the table for Husky, which is good to know.  I now know Keter and trust the brand.  So with this table, knowing that Keter makes it for Husky, I am equally as impressed.  So what is so special about this bench, well a lot.

First the bench is only $70, not bad for a sturdy and portable bench.  Second this thing can hold a heck of a lot of weight, 1,500 lbs to be more precise.  Third, this bench folds away easy.  Not as easy as the other work bench we covered, but easy enough to make it portable and useful.  In fact everything stows away easy and neat.  Another useful benefit is metal rails on the top of the bench to allow for clamping.  If that is still not enough, you have metal brackets that allow the user to put 2×4’s on the sides, so really you can build the table bigger, how cool is that?  But wait that isn’t all.  In fact you can use this for a router table, yes a router table.  You can mount most routers on the bottom and now you have a portable router table, not bad and for a price of $70, how can you beat it?

I don’t care who you are, having a portable work station is a must.  Okay well not everyone.  The guy who only works in his shop, I guess you really don’t need one, but for everyone else a portable work station is nice.  For me, I just use a piece of plywood and two saw horses. The plus is it’s very sturdy and it is a large work area.  The downside, I am hauling around plywood and messing with the weight of 3/4″ plywood.  Now if I am leaving the station up all day, no big deal.  However there are plenty of times I don’t need to create a work space that big.  That’s where a portable work station would be great.  Problem is I couldn’t find a really good solution.  I was at Costco a while back and saw the Keter Folding Work Table and thought this one might look interesting, so we reached out and gave it a try.  So let me jump in and let’s talk about this table.

Hauling around a work table from location to location can be a pain.  You need something light enough to carry, but strong enough to support your work.  You need something small enough to store, but big enough to actually use when needed.  Well the Keter fits both of those objectives. The table is made from a resin base plastic, so it’s light weighing only 26 lbs. However when you open the table up, the design allows the table to support up to 1,000 lbs.  As for portability, this table folds up flat making it very easy to store and transport.  Folding to about 4″ in width.  When the table is open it has a table top of 21.65″ wide and 33.46″ in length and stands 29.7″ tall.

This work station has three cool features that I want to cover.  First, is the ease of setting up and taking the table down, it really can’t be any easier. Well I guess if you had someone else set it up, it would be easier.  Just push two buttons on the side, and it opens up and you’re ready to go to work.  The second item is the clamping system.  The bench comes with two clamps that you can clamp your work down vertically or horizontal. Which makes it ideal for sanding, painting or cutting projects.  The last item is the shelf below the table.  Not that you will store all your tools on this shelf, but you can store little items that you don’t need right now, but you will for your project.  That way they are always in reach.

Now I have to say I do really like this table and think Keter has a great thing going with this work station, but as always there is room for improvement that can make this a top tier work station.  However I understand their market with this station and I know making these changes for future generations would raise the cost, but these are just a couple ideas.  First, I would love to see the option of legs that could adjust the height. Sometimes, well most of the time the ground isn’t always flat.  It would be great to have the option of extending a leg or two in these situations.  The table is a little wobbly, but not too bad. Another nice feature would be to have the table expand.  So when you open the table up, you have the option of folding up another section to give you a larger work space.  I know this would lower the overall weight the table could handle, but it would be nice to have that option.

amazon  Keter 17182239 Folding Work Table

Overall I think this is a great buy.  Quick and easy to open, strong and practical.  The clamps are a nice touch to help with your work.  Bottom line I am surprised at the quality of this table for the price, it’s a great value for anyone looking for a portable work solution.  With the table folding up so small, you can easily store it in the smallest of garages.

When I first spotted the Power Bench delivery my heart sank, the shippers did a fine job of tearing the cardboard carton up and I had visions of returns in my head. Upon looking into the remnants of the box it appeared the contents had remained intact, so I decided I would open it up and have a look before I proceeded with the return process. When I opened the box, I was greeted with a very stout piece of equipment and it is my opinion that it would have taken a lot more than a torn carton to have damaged this bench, maybe backing the truck over it a time or two.

Included in the box along with Lee Unlimited Power bench are an instruction sheet and a small padded envelope containing a DVD and a small selection of sales literature.  The wheels will have to be attached before use, that being only assembly required. There is a small learning curve you will have to master before you can use the Power Bench as it is not entirely intuitive in how it is set up, this should not take anyone more than a moment to become familiar with its operation, even less should you actually choose to read the instructions or view the DVD first.

My first impression of the Power Bench was how stoutly it has been built, while most manufacturers use the thinnest walled tubing they can get away with, Lee Unlimited has instead opted to use 11 gauge 1 inch square tubing for the main supports. While this does contribute to the weight of the Power Bench, I would rather deal with a little extra weight than have to deal with a flimsy or broken tool. I have to take a moment to mention the quality of the welds on the Power Bench, they are superb, with not a hint of gaps, splatters or erosion, which is rather rare to see in these days of mass production. The wheels included with the Power Bench have steel hubs that run on ball bearings which make for easy portability and will likely last a lot longer than the plastic wheels with bushings offered on a lot of their competitors stands. One interesting design feature that brought a smile to my face was the bit of Yankee ingenuity in using bent spikes as their spring loaded locking pins, they really add personal, home grown feel to the bench.

Overall the basic Power Bench is approximately 9 feet long, it does grow or shrink in length by a few inches, as the work table is raised or lowered and is 24 inches wide at its base, the widest point. There are optional extensions available to extend the working length of the bench should your work need it. The center table, where you should mount your saw is 28 inches long by 17 inches wide and the wings have a work space is 36 inches long by 18 inches wide. The Power Bench can be erected in any of six different heights ranging from 30 up to 41 inches. I’m on the taller side so I really appreciate the ability to adjust the work height. The height adjustment is made by extending the middle table allowing the center section to rise or settle into a taller or lower stance. The center table sits 3 inches lower than the side tables which my Makita 1214 sliding compound miter saw table sits proud of by approximately half an inch. The only provisions for adjustment listed in the manual is the use of shims, which in my case was half inch plywood applied to the side tables. An undocumented feature is the ability to adjust the table height by means of the sliding sleeves built into the center tables mounts, which are locked in place by both a Tek screw and a bolt. The center table has an expanded metal mesh as its main work surface which makes mounting any saw to it a breeze, with the added benefit that it does not provide a surface for any sawdust to accumulate.

power BenchThe Power Bench takes only a few moments to set up once you become familiar with it’s operation. Once it is set up, it is very sturdy with no wobbles or shakes at all whether it is set up on smooth pavement or rough ground. A word of warning here, this stand has unprotected metal feet, if it is set up on a finished floor without protection it will most likely leave marks. I found that this stand is much more at home doing rough carpentry than it is doing trim work. The lack of fence being the major shortcoming in working with trim. This lack of fence is also what makes this stand ideal for rougher work. When you cutting 2 x material at a fast pace it is very easy to load and unload the bench. It is at this point I’ll admit that my favorite use for this stand doesn’t include a miter saw at all. I really like using this bench as a cut station for use with a regular circular saw. It is much better than a set of saw horses as both ends of your work
are supported and you still have the center section open for blade clearance. Even plywood is well supported and easy to cut on this stand. Cutting mortises and tenons in larger timbers was especially easy for me due to the stands adjustable height as I didn’t have to spend half my day either hunched over or stretching out to make the repetitive cuts required for this work.

Overall I would say that the Power Bench is a winner, versatile, durable, well constructed and easy to use and best of all, assembled right here in the good old U.S.A.  To learn more about Power Bench, you can visit their website.
